Tying in the Roof
Thankfully we've had two really nice days this week so far and the guys are hard at work trying to get the roof finished before the next storm. Here's where they are on tying in the new roof to the old roof as of about 11am this morning ...... first one is taken with my back to the street looking up at new master bedroom. Second is over by the old side entrance looking towards the new great room and guest suite from the side. Third is with my back to the lake looking up at where the Master Bedroom roof will tie in with the new kitchen/great room roof.

Great Room takes shape!
The inside is looking more and more like what we designed now that they've taken out the old interior walls. David calls it a cavern! I'm still not sure if all the furniture in the PODs waiting for us in Albany is going to fit in our new dream home but I can at least envision both leather couches and a nice big dining room table area in there. In these photos, you can get a sense for how high the roof is now in comparison to the old one. The first three of these photos are taken with my back to the street side of the house - where the new library will be. The last one of the guys working on the master bedroom roof was taken with my back to the lake. This week they will be working to tie them in and finish the roof. We picked shingles last week - our first bit of color. Windows were ordered last week and that will be the next big thing they work on. We're still hoping for move in day to be early July.

A Room with a View
Just a quick "happy snap" from my phone. The interior walls have been removed, so what will be the kitchen and living room looks rather cavernous at the moment.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the house, the men are putting the rafters up over the master bedroom. Eventually the two roof-lines will be joined. This will require several days without rain, which seems to be difficult to find. And, so you know it's my picture, that is my finger in the lower left corner.

The Roof Has Been Raised!
I hadn't been over to the house in over a week ..... check it out!!! We have a roof on the great room and rafters started on the master bedroom!! They've nearly buried the septic tank and the propane tanks now and have started the plumbing. David met with the HVAC guy who will be laying the radiant heat shortly and things will really be rolling! I am loving the views from the guest suite, the master bath and master bedroom. Today I stood in each of them for a bit and just took it all in. It's already got karma and I can't wait to move back!!

Rafters
Up go the rafters despite the inclement weather this February. It's amazing to stand down at the guest suite level and look up - it's a cathedral ceiling all right worthy of a great room that looks out onto the unobstructed view of the Catskill mountains! Now all the team needs is a stretch of decent weather to finish it up. Today is a nice day but windy and the rain comes in again tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm sure they are all over there right now getting as much done as they can before it hits. Jim' continues to keep us informed and we're keeping our fingers crossed. Looking up the hill from the guest suite (on the left) the master bedroom is coming right along as well (on the right) - the walls and the framing have been started and we're already deciding where the furniture will go :-)
